Hello, my name is Carla. I am the mom of 3 sons, to of which still live at home. My oldest son is 22. The other 2 are 17 and 15.  My 17 year old is my biggest problem and since I don't know anyone in my area with a similar situation, I started searching the internet for some solutions. B (the 17 yr. old) is extremely intelligent, but making horrible choices. He is failing school, and is constantly defiant to authority, his teachers and his parents. He's been living with a friend, but I am in the process of getting him to come back home. At first, things seemed to go better. He was going to school and his grades were decent. Then he was back into the same pattern of missing school and not doing his schoolwork. I have no idea how to start. I was looking into the Total Transformation program. If anyone can tell me whether or not this is a good place to start I'd greatly appreciate it. Any books that are helpful for a defiant, angry young man would be great. I think he has a good heart. He's not been arrested or anything, but I suspect he drinks some. I guess that's it for now.  Thanks for letting me vent. :)

Hi Carla – Welcome! Sorry to hear about your boy's situation and your stress over this. I obviously like Total Transformation. It is not only help for now but also long term for your relationship with him. 17 seems like a hard age with one foot out the door. But it is never, ever too late to work your relationship. We also have a Fb page called Parenting Allies where you can interact with other parents. Hope to see you there too!
